![]() Anyone have any experience with the i5 or i7 and can advise whether the i7 is gonna burn a hole through my lap and my wallet, and is it really gonna make a worthwhile difference for my usage. My concerns are that upgrading to i7 for my usage is adding around £200 unnecessarily where the i5 would hold up fine, and also complaints from the previous gens of Surface laptops/pros that i7 drained battery and caused overheating. The Laptop 2 is struggling to keep up and crashes regularly on Teams calls if I try and open anything else alongside, which at 4GB RAM and nearly 5 years old I can't really be mad at. Laptop Brand - Microsoft, Laptop Series - Surface, Laptop Model - Microsoft Surface Go 3, Processor Brand - Intel, Processor Type - Intel Core i3, Processor Generation - 10th (Intel), Processor Model - Core i3 10100Y, Processor Base Frequency - 1.30GHz, Processor Max Turbo Frequency - 3. Will be used for my thesis (aka 20+ tabs open on Chrome and rarely actually shut down for the next two years), and home working using mostly office products, occasional use of design software (Canva at the most complex), Teams running in the background all the time (giant memory hog, thanks microsoft), frequent video calls, and occasional hosting of workshops with screenshare on throughout. ![]() ![]() I'm looking at the Surface Laptop 5 13.5 inch, 16GB RAM and 512 SSD to upgrade from my Surface Laptop 2 ![]()
